Weekend Beer Events - July 14-17

Looking for something to do this weekend?  As always, Michigan isn't going to let you down.  Check out some of these great beer events going on throughout the weekend!


Thursday, July 14:

ABC Brew Pub - Beer Tasting: Wheats and Lambics
Time: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Cost: $25 in advance, $30 if purchased on tasting day.  Call 734-213-1393 to order tickets over the phone.

Details: "This tasting truly has something for every palate. From light and fruity wits, to clean refreshing American wheats to knock your socks off sour Belgian Lambics. We’ll select the best 2 dozen or so brews from the wide spectrum of wheat beers and pair them with an appetizer buffet, provide style and tasting notes, and top off the night with a door prize drawing."


Friday, July 15:

A Sip of Michigan - Birthday Bash (this event is SOLD OUT -- hopefully you already have your tickets!)

Corks for Conservation

Free Mead Tasting at B. Nektar Meadery

Saturday, July 16:

First Annual Riverwalk Grill Microbrew Beer Fest

Details: "Featuring live music from The Blues Creators, this beer fest will feature beer samples, burgers and brats, and a full service bar. Come join in the fun!"

Roots Rock Reggae Fest wsg Zion Lion

Time: 7:00 pm to 1:30 am
Cost: Free admission
Venue: New Holland Brewing Co.

Details: "Hey Mon! It’s time again for this year’s Reggae Party on Saturday, July 16! The evening will start with front man Adrian Butler, of the band A.B! & Coconut Brown, spinning da beats from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. This year’s headliner is Zion Lion, performing from 10:00 pm – 1:00 am. Zion Lion is know as the “baddest reggae band” to hit the West Michigan music scene. The members are a combination of several bands from the Kalamazoo area that crossed each other’s path along the way and decided to form what they call the right mix of reggae."

Brewery Vivant Tours
Time:  12:00 pm and 2:00 pm
Cost:  $5 and includes beer samples

Details:  "Want to learn about what makes Brewery Vivant beer so special? There is no better way than to learn from the very people whose passion put that beer in your glass. Tours are also a lot of fun. Impress your out-of-town guests by bringing them down to see how your local beer is made.

Official Brewery tours are given every Saturday at noon and 2:00. No reservations needed, just show up. Must be 21 years or older to take the tour.  Cost of the tour is $5 and includes beer samples.  All tour attendees get 10% off coupon from the company store.  Use it for shirts, hats, beer glasses, or take a 4 pk or case of beer home with you."


Sunday, July 17:

Microbrew Tastings with The Traverse City Tall Ship Co.

Open Jazz Jam Session at HopCat
Time:  7:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Details:  "Every Sunday night West Michigan's jazz artists and jazz fans will have a place to relax and hang and get together for an 'old skool' jam session at HopCat in downtown Grand Rapids. After the first set, competent musicians and serious jazz students will be invited to join the trio hosted by drummer Randy Marsh. There may be an occasional Organissimo sighting when Jim Alfredson is home off the road."
